Our Meeting Point

Departing from Edinburgh City Centre

Outside Hotel Malmaison, 22 Saint Andrew Square, EH2 1AY

From the 2nd of December 2024 onward, we will be boarding from outside Hotel Malmaison, on the north side of St Andrew Square. The full address is 22 St Andrew Square, EH2 1AY.

Our departure point is conveniently located in the New Town of Edinburgh, close to cafes, shops and public bathrooms to help make you ready for your adventure!
St Andrew Square is near a tram stop, numerous bus stops as well as Waverley Train Station and Edinburgh Coach Station.

Upon arrival you will see our buses and Check-In team, both adorned with the Hairy Coo logo, so we’re quite easy to spot! Please approach our Check-In Team when your full group is ready to board.

Getting to the meeting point

Our departure point is easily accessible by foot and public transport, and within walking distance from Waverley Train Station and Edinburgh Coach Station.

Many of the local bus lines stop nearby, or a short walk away. The nearest bus stop is dependent on where you are coming from, please use the travel planner on Lothian buses’ website to find a suitable bus line. Please note that we are not able to offer individual pick-up or drop-off services.

The tram line route and stops are available on Edinburgh Tram’s website. The nearest stop to our departure point is ‘St Andrew Square’, less than 5 minutes walk away from the our departure point at 22 St Andrew Square.

When using public transport or taxi services to make your way to departure point, please allow enough time to account for delays. We are unable to wait for late arriving passengers, due to the impact this has on other passengers and the tour as a whole.

Outside Deacon's House Cafe - 304 Lawnmarket, EH1 2PS

You may have our old departure points on the Lawnmarket (outside Deacon’s House Café or Heritage of Scotland) listed on your ticket, depending on when you made your booking. Please note that these are no longer in use due to roadworks impacting access, and that all our tours depart from 22 St Andrew Square.

We regret any inconvenience this change may cause. The new departure point is an approximate 15-minute (0.6 mile/1km) walk away from the Lawnmarket.  You can view directions here.

Johnston Terrace, 25 Johnston Terrace, EH1 2NH

On the 12th of September we will use Johnston Terrace as our departure point. This is a short walk away from our normal departure point on the Lawnmarket.

Due to a film shoot taking place in locations around Edinburgh Old Town.

Outside Heritage of Scotland, 459-461 Lawnmarket, EH1 2NT

Until and including the 1st of December 2024, we are boarding from outside Heritage of Scotland, 459-461 Lawnmarket, EH1 2NT.

This is located directly opposite of our original departure point by Deacon’s House Café and is due to one-way east-bound traffic being implemented on the Lawnmarket.

Upon arrival you will see our buses and Check-In team, both adorned with the Hairy Coo logo, so we’re quite easy to spot! The times for Check-In and departure remain the same. Please approach our Check-In Team when you are ready to board.

Heritage of Scotland shop on the Royal Mile Edinburgh

Outside Cafe Andaluz Old Town, 10-11 George IV Bridge, EH1 1EE

On the 28th of September 2024  we are departing from 10-11 George IV Bridge, outside Café Andaluz Old Town.

This is just around the corner (approximate 3-minute walk) from our original departure point at the Lawnmarket.
The nearest bus stops is “Victoria Street”.

This change is due to an event celebrating the 25th year anniversary of the Scottish Parliament, and we will be back to our departure point on the Lawnmarket on Sunday the 29th of September.
