ABOUT YOUR DISCOVER THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS TOUR

Departing Edinburgh’s historic Old Town, we leave the bustle of the city behind us as we drive to Queensferry, a charming town along the shores of the Firth of Forth. It’s famous for its iconic views of the Forth Bridges, particularly the striking red Forth Rail Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a moment to admire the stunning views over the water before continuing on your journey.

Next we make our way to Stirling where you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Wallace Monument, a towering tribute to one of Scotland’s greatest national heroes, Sir William Wallace. This impressive monument stands atop Abbey Craig and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Learn about Wallace’s role in Scotland’s history and perhaps climb the 246 steps to the top for panoramic vistas of Stirling and beyond! Alternatively, explore the ancient woodlands of the Abbey Craig or take the time to enjoy a hot drink.

A short drive further takes us to a viewpoint of Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s most important and grand castles. Perched high on a volcanic crag, the castle is steeped in history, having witnessed many key events in Scottish history, including battles and royal intrigue.

After Stirling, head to the picturesque town of Callander, often considered the gateway to the Scottish Highlands. Nestled on the banks of the River Teith, this quaint town is surrounded by rolling hills and scenic landscapes. It’s a perfect place to enjoy a stroll or grab a bite to eat.

From Callander, we’ll journey deeper into the heart of the Trossachs to Loch Katrine, a stunning freshwater loch. Known for its peaceful beauty, Loch Katrine was immortalised in Sir Walter Scott’s famous poem The Lady of the Lake. Admire the beauty of the Scottish landscape and relax by the tranquil waters, surrounded by forests and mountains.

Not far away, we’ll make a short stop at Loch Achray, a smaller but equally picturesque loch nestled between the towering Ben A’an and Ben Venue mountains. The area around the loch is serene and peaceful, offering another chance to enjoy the beauty of the Scottish Highlands – if we are lucky we will even spot some of our beloved Highland Cows!

From here we start our journey back to Edinburgh, carrying with us memories of Scotland’s historic landmarks, serene lochs, and breathtaking natural scenery. We aim to be back in the Scottish capital in the late afternoon, around 5 PM.
